FAQ 01 What products and solutions does Solterra offer?
Solterra focuses on Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs), offering portable and onboard chargers for 2W/3W, onboard chargers and communication modules for 4W, and communication modules for public DC fast-charging. Products span low-voltage and select high-voltage domains. Engineering services include system design, concept development, enclosure design, and license-based technology transfers. Their flagship LEV DC Fast Charger (IEC 61851-25) is under development with the Bharat Charge Alliance (BCA).
FAQ 02 Can Solterra customize the CAN protocol?
Yes. Solterra customizes CAN protocols for specific vehicle and BMS requirements, including message structures, fault handling, diagnostics, and system behavior.
FAQ 03 Which battery chemistries are supported?
All major chemistries: Lead Acid (VRLA and Flooded), and lithium-ion families including LFP, NMC, NCA, and LTO. Charging profiles can be fully tailored.
FAQ 04 How long does it take to charge an EV using Solterra chargers?
Chargers range from 300 W to 12 kW, enabling charge times from under an hour to over 8 hours depending on the application.
FAQ 05 Are customization options available for onboard and portable chargers?
Yes - housing and industrial design, cable length, connector type, RCD and protection features, firmware behavior, CAN messages, colors, branding, LED indications, handles, mounting brackets, interlocks, and auxiliary power outputs can all be customized.
FAQ 06 Can onboard chargers also be used as portable chargers?
Yes. Chargers are environmentally sealed and can be used in portable, wall-mounted, or onboard configurations with suitable customization.
FAQ 07 Why does an IP67 charger offer better reliability? Are all Solterra chargers IP67?
Environmental exposure such as dust, humidity, PCB dendrite formation, and arc tracking is a major cause of power-electronics failure. All Solterra chargers are IP67-sealed for reliability in harsh conditions.
FAQ 08 What protection features are built into Solterra chargers?
Over-temperature, reverse polarity, short-circuit and overload, over and under-voltage, automatic cutoff and fault isolation, surge protection, EMI and EMC compliance, and shock and vibration resistance are built in. Additional protections are available on request.
FAQ 09 Is there a standard price list available?
Reference pricing exists, but quotations are shared after finalizing technical requirements, drawings, and estimated annual volumes.
FAQ 10 Does Solterra offer solutions for four-wheelers (4W)?
Yes - onboard chargers, vehicle communication controllers (CHAdeMO, ISO 15118, GB/T), and EVSE and charging communication modules are available.
FAQ 11 Why do Solterra chargers use cooling fans?
They manage heat from AC-to-DC conversion, keeping the charger within safe operating and touch-safe temperature limits.
FAQ 12 What charging algorithms do Solterra chargers support?
CC-CV profiles, pulse and fast-response charging, smooth soft-start, and controlled end-of-charge behavior are supported. Slew rates and regulation accuracy are tuned for battery and BMS requirements.

There are 10-15 standard connector options across AC and DC interfaces. Proprietary or customer-specific connectors can also be integrated.

FAQ 18 I'm unsure which charger rating is right for my application. Can Solterra help?
Yes. The engineering team will recommend the most suitable charger and configuration after reviewing the completed parameters form.
FAQ 19 What are the warranty and AMC terms?
The standard warranty is 3 years, subject to usage conditions. Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) can be arranged through bespoke agreements.
FAQ 20 Are Solterra chargers compliant with Indian and international standards?
Yes. Solterra chargers are designed to comply with applicable IEC, AIS, and automotive standards depending on the application and target market.

Yes. OEM and white-label solutions are available, including custom branding, labeling, and documentation.
